Penguins fan celebrates 88th birthday at first hockey game

It’s never too late to catch your first hockey game.

For an 88-year-old Pittsburgh Penguins fan, Jan, that first hockey game came on Friday at the preseason game between the Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres.

On her birthday, nonetheless.

Jan has been a hockey fan for about 10 years, thanks to her grandson, and finally got around to catching a game in person with her friends.

She came prepared, rocking a Penguins jersey and holding a handwritten roster. She even got to go home with a Penguins puck.

As if that all wasn’t enough to bring out Jan’s bright smile, the Penguins came away with the 7-4 victory in the team’s final preseason game.

Certainly a birthday to remember for this Penguins fan.
