Borgstrom, selected by the Panthers with the 23rd pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, and forward Jayce Hawryluk were recalled from Springfield of the American Hockey League on Saturday. Borgstrom, who had one goal in four games for the Panthers at the end of last season, had 22 points in 24 games for Springfield. Hawryluk, a second-round pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, will be making his NHL debut. The Panthers are 0-3-1 since defeating the Boston Bruins 5-0 on Dec. 4 and are coming off a 5-1 loss at the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. Forward Zach Hyman will be back in the lineup for Toronto after serving a two-game suspension for his hit on Boston defenseman Charlie McAvoy on Dec. 8. The Maple Leafs have lost three of four (1-2-1) and are coming off a 4-1 loss at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday in a game where they had a 49-21 shot advantage.

Maple Leafs forward Mitchell Marner has 13 assists in his past nine games. Panthers forward Jonathan Huberdeau has four goals and 15 assists in the past 10 games.
