The Maple Leafs goalie paid homage to his home country of Denmark with a blue Lego Batman and also honors Toronto with his spectacular new mask, which was unveiled Monday. Frederik Andersen knew what he wanted on his new Toronto Maple Leafs mask💪. He wanted to pay tribute to his home country of Denmark🇩 and an awesome and super cool figure from Denmark🇩❤. I loved it and picked up my airbrush guns and started to paint😍. His Lego buddy shows up on the mask and becomes The Blue Knight Of The Blue and White…👊! In the background you can find Toronto city🏙, and with such a cool hero in the city all bad guys must watch out😱. Frederik and I have been working toghether for many, many years, ever since Frederik was a very young goalie in Denmark. Thanks Frederik!🙏 Love to be your mask painter!😀 @frederikandersen31 @mapleleafs @nhl @daveart #nhl #DaveArtTheCradleOfCreativity 🤓 #DaveArtThePaintNerd](https://scontent-iad3-1.cdninstagram.com/vp/215dab6a6760cec8c33d987b3e3f635c/5C23F9EF/t51.2885-15/sh0.08/e35/s640x640/41780977749597238714217542512584768990567_n.jpg)
Andersen's mask, designed and painted by David Gunnarsson of DaveArt, is dubbed "The Blue Knight of The Blue and White." It continues his trend of incorporating the Batman from the Denmark-based Lego Group
"It's a very popular toy in Denmark. Every kid in Denmark has played with Legos," Andersen told The Star on Sept. 18. "The Lego theme has been a classic for me and something that's personal."
