Goalie Garret Sparks got the start for the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, which means he got to debut his all-green helmet.
The Maple Leafs played Friday and Saturday in their throwback green and white Toronto St. Pats jerseys. Sparks' bucket featured a green snake whose skin was made of shamrocks with white teeth in the shape of the Maple Leafs logo.
The backplate of the mask featured a tribute to the Humboldt Broncos, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League who tragically lost 16 people in a fatal bus crash in April of 2018. Sparks' regular mask also has a tribute to the Humboldt victims. Both sides of the mask feature the old St. Pats logo and Sparks' No. 40 is featured on the front.
