Budaj, 36, will start in goal after Jack Campbell sustained a knee injury that will require surgery in a 1-0 loss to the Calgary Flames on Saturday. Campbell, who is 5-7-0 with a 2.33 goals-against average, a .923 save percentage and one shutout in 13 games this season, became the starter when Jonathan Quick injured his knee last month.
Budaj was 3-3-1 with a 3.76 goals-against average and .876 save percentage for the Tampa Bay Lightning last season. He made 51 starts for the Kings in 2016-17 when Quick sustained a groin injury in the season opener.
