Mitchell Marner scored two goals to extend his point streak to a Toronto Maple Leafs record 19 games, but the Tampa Bay Lightning won 4-3 in overtime at Amalie Arena in Tampa on Saturday.

Marner, who has 26 points (nine goals, 17 assists) during the streak, broke the record he shared with Darryl Sittler (1977-78) and Eddie Olczyk (1989-90).
"It's cool. I grew up in this city, I love being a part of this team nowadays," Marner said. "It's special to me and it's special growing up to watch this team play hockey, and now to have my name on something pretty amazing, it's hard to describe, but like I've been saying, it's not a one-man effort out there."
Alex Killorn won it with a shot from the right face-off dot 33 seconds into overtime.
"It was really tough," Killorn said. "Going into the third, 5-on-5, I personally didn't have a ton of shifts. A lot of guys hadn't got a lot of chemistry with their lines just because we hadn't had a lot of 5-on-5 play, but in the third it kind of came alive."

Maple Leafs goalie Matt Murray felt he should have made the save.
"I thought we deserved a better fate. That one in overtime is one I need to come up with," Murray said. "Then it could go either way in overtime, obviously. Both teams played pretty well. It just knuckled a bit, kind of handcuffed me. Popped up at the last second and really dipped pretty hard."
Vladislav Namestnikov, Nikita Kucherov and Ross Colton scored, and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 36 saves for the Lightning (15-8-1), who have won four of five.
"Just way too many power plays and penalties," Tampa Bay coach Jon Cooper said. "It takes away from the flow and everything that is going on. It just kind of disrupted everything. It was a weird game tonight, just weird. I think both coaches and staffs will look at it, and the only benefit was we got the extra point, but it was a weird game."

TOR@TBL: Marner extends point streak to 19 games

William Nylander scored, and Murray made 29 saves for the Maple Leafs (15-5-6), who had their five-game winning streak end but extended their point streak to 11 games (8-0-3).
Toronto has lost its past six overtime games.
"This is not one we are going to overthink," Toronto coach Sheldon Keefe said. "We can't give them the puck there and we need a save there. Matt knows that. He played a great game, so we'll let that one slide."
Colton put the Lightning ahead 3-2 at 4:34 of the third period when he received a pass from Mikhail Sergachev and shot from just above the goal line during a power play.
Marner tied it 3-3 with his own-power play goal from the slot at 11:55.
John Tavares then appeared to give the Maple Leafs a 4-3 lead at 15:56, but the goal was disallowed after it was determined he had kicked the puck into the net.
Marner scored short-handed to give the Maple Leafs a 1-0 lead at 5:18 of the second period.
Namestnikov tied it 1-1 at 7:40 when he got to a loose puck and scored from the slot. It was his first goal since signing a one-year contract on July 13 to return to the Lightning, who he played for from 2013-18.
"You could tell that was a huge exhale," Cooper said. "You felt the roof blow off a little bit when he scored that one, and the guys on the bench, everyone recognizes that, so I am really happy for him."
Nylander gave Toronto a 2-1 lead at 16:50 of the second with a backhand at the top of the crease past a sprawling Vasilevskiy. It was his fourth goal in the past five games.
Kucherov tied it 2-2 at 1:51 of the third period, using Corey Perry as a screen to shoot past Murray's glove from the top of the right face-off circle during a power play.
"The timing of his release is what makes Kucherov such a dangerous player," Murray said. "As soon as Perry moved over into my sightline, he rips it short side. I didn't really see it."
