The Toronto Maple Leafs forwards sent well wishes to the boy after his dad's tweet, lamenting the fact none of his invited friends attended his birthday party went viral Sunday.
Happy 11th Birthday Kade! All your friends on the team look forward to celebrating with you. I’m hearing it’s going to be quite the surprise. @Marner93@MapleLeafshttps://t.co/knidhCar7G
Foster's dad Jason shared a photo of the boy in a Maple Leafs shirt and team-themed cake, where he shared his disappointment that none of Kade's friends showed up for his 11th birthday party. He closed it by asking for positive thoughts from from Toronto and its fans.
My son Kade had his 11th birthday party last night. None of his invited friends came. That hurt. I’m asking my Twitter friends to show him some love today. If you have a minute, please send him a birthday wish. @Marner93@91Tavares@MapleLeafs#LeafsForeverpic.twitter.com/kn0vP1l6z8
Tavares and Marner each hinted that they'd been planning a surprise celebration for Kade's birthday in the not-so-distant future, and Matthews was certain to send a tweet wishing him a happy birthday.
The outpouring of support, which also included tweets from Maple Leafs fans, media members and hockey fans across North America, left Foster inspired.
We can’t comprehend what has happened today. Kade and the rest of us are just amazed. To EVERYONE who sent Kade a message - thank you from the bottom of our hearts. He is an amazing son and he will never forget this day. @MapleLeafs@Marner93@91Tavares@NLGrowlers
