The Toronto Maple Leafs started their dads trip with a bang.
Keyed by Travis Dermott and Justin Holl's first NHL goals, the Maple Leafs defeated the New York Islanders 5-0 at Air Canada Centre on Wednesday.
"Good for those kids," Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock said. "You don't get to score your first NHL goal very often -- one time."

Dermott's dad Jim was in attendance
and welled up
after Travis made it 4-0 late in the second period, then assisted on
Holl's first NHL goal
in the third that made it 5-0.
Holl, who was recalled on an emergency basis Wednesday, did not have his dad in attendance; however, according to Sportsnet, he became the first Maple Leafs defenseman to score in his first NHL game since Ron Wilson in 1978.
"It's great if your dad's here to see it," Babcock said. "It's not just an individual accomplishment; it's a family accomplishment, so they should be proud."
The dads trip will continue Thursday when the Maple Leafs play the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. We'll see if they find a way to top their performances from Wednesday.
