Pitlick was selected by Seattle from the Arizona Coyotes in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft presented by Upper Deck on Wednesday. The 29-year-old forward, who scored 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 38 games this season, has one season remaining on a two-year contract he signed with Arizona on Oct. 9, 2020.
Selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round (No. 31) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Pitlick has scored 84 points (47 goals, 37 assists) in 286 regular-season games for the Oilers, Dallas Stars, Philadelphia Flyers and Coyotes, and three points (two goals, one assist) in 22 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Seattle built its roster by selecting 30 players, one from each NHL team, excluding the Vegas Golden Knights, in the expansion draft. The Golden Knights were exempt after joining as an expansion team in 2017-18.
