Ethan Bear injury

Ethan Bear will miss the start of next season for the Vancouver Canucks after having shoulder surgery.

The expected recovery time is six months, which means the 25-year-old defenseman will be out until December.

Bear, who was injured playing for Canada during the 2023 IIHF World Championship, had 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) in 61 games for the Canucks this season.

Selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the third round (No. 124) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Bear has 63 points (16 goals, 47 assists) in 251 NHL games with the Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes and Canucks, and no points in eight Stanley Cup Playoff games.
