Brock Boeser pranked by Canucks before first NHL game

Classic rookie mistake, Brock Boeser.
The forward thought he was leading the Vancouver Canucks onto the ice for their warmup before his first NHL game against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center on Saturday. Instead, he was left all by himself for a lonely twirl.

Boeser appeared to take the gesture in stride, and the Canucks eventually joined him on the ice.
Boeser is from Burnsville, Minnesota, and his parents, Duke and Laurie, were among the family members who made the short trip to Brock's debut in St. Paul. According to the Star Tribune, the Canucks invited Duke and Laurie into the locker room to announce Vancouver's starting lineup, which included Brock.

Boeser didn't take long to score his first NHL goal. He beat Minnesota goaltender Darcy Kuemper at 11:51 of the second period to give Vancouver a 3-0 lead, and it became the game-winner in a 4-2 victory.

a three-year, entry-level contract
Saturday after he and the University of North Dakota were eliminated from the NCAA tournament in double overtime by Boston University in Fargo, North Dakota, on Friday.
