Brossoit made four saves, including one against Elias Pettersson in tight, during a flurry in the final seconds of the first period. In the second period against Pettersson, he gloved a wrist shot from the left hash marks at 3:37 and made the save on a backdoor chance on a power play at 5:38.
"I'm just getting tired of saying we played a good game but we didn't score," Pettersson said. "It was another one of those tonight. We have shot opportunities, especially me. I'm trying to make the perfect pass when maybe I can shoot the easy shot and create a scramble and maybe, hopefully, score a goal. Maybe now when the puck isn't going in, just got to simplify."
Brossoit made the save against defenseman Nate Schmidt on a breakaway with 2:46 left in the second, reaching back with his blocker after the shot trickled under his arm.
"I felt fast today, and on that breakaway, I moved a little too fast," Brossoit said. "I overreacted a bit with my blocker. It hit my armpit, and I felt it drop and just made sure I covered it up."
Jets coach Paul Maurice praised Brossoit, who had not played since Feb. 2, watching Connor Hellebuyck play the previous six games.
"He's underrated," Maurice said. "Connor Hellebuyck gets all the accolades, as he should, he's a Vezina winner, but our goaltending tandem is just exceptionally strong."
Canucks coach Travis Green said they didn't make Brossoit's job hard enough.
"It felt like we had the puck a lot but didn't put enough pressure to the net with shots and traffic," Green said. "We missed the net a few times from the point when we had traffic. But there's also another team that has a say in what's going on. And sometimes you miss the net because they're in the shot lane and they're willing to block a shot."
The Jets and Canucks are scheduled to play here again Sunday.
