Alexander-Edler 10-28

Alexander Edler will be out 3-6 weeks for the Vancouver Canucks with a sprained MCL in his right knee.

The 32-year-old defenseman was injured at 10:08 of the first period during a 3-2 shootout win at the Vegas Golden Knights on Oct. 24 and missed Vancouver's next two games, losses to the Arizona Coyotes and Pittsburgh Penguins. He missed 12 games with a knee injury last season.
Edler has five assists in 10 games and leads the Canucks in average ice time (22;20). He's in the final season of a six-year, $30 million contract, can become an unrestricted free agent July 1 and has played his entire 13-season career in Vancouver.
Goalie Anders Nilsson (fractured finger) was placed on injured reserve Sunday; coach Travis Green said he will miss 2-3 weeks.
Richard Bachman
was recalled from Utica of the American Hockey League to back up Jacob Markstrom.
"[Nilsson] took a shot in the morning [skate Saturday] and it didn't feel right," Green said. "He has a fractured finger, so Bachman will be up for a bit."
Defenseman Chris Tanev (undisclosed) is day to day after leaving the game against the Golden Knights at 8:53 of the third period.
