"A nice fan brought me this hat and it changed the whole day for me," Reaves said. "It's nice, huh? Nice and shiny. Really good paint job. I don't know who did that, but first of all, thank you. Second of all, really good work."
Watt had seen someone on social media wearing the hat, and being a huge Golden Knights fan, she and a girlfriend were determined to find it on a recent birthday trip to Mexico. They found only one in a mercado, so Watt called dibs because it was her birthday and talked the price down from $85 to $20.
"I schlepped the giant monstrosity home back to Vegas and (the parade) was my first opportunity to wear it," Watt said. "The VGK float came down and I got so excited to see Reavo, I ran up to it and screamed that I wanted him to have it."
Even though she never really got a chance to use it after all that work to get it, the experience of handing it to one of her favorite players was totally worth.
"Literally the best $20 I ever spent," Watt said. "Seeing the videos today made me happy. Vegas loves us some Ryan Reaves."
