Pacioretty's second goal boosts Golden Knights past Coyotes in OT

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Max Pacioretty scored his second goal of the game at 3:36 of overtime to give the Vegas Golden Knights a 3-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena on Wednesday.

Pacioretty put in the rebound of a Shea Theodore shot to win it. He has scored four times in a three-game goal streak for the Golden Knights (10-12-1), who have won three of their past five games.
"They come in bunches," Pacioretty said. "I've said for a while now I like how our line (with Cody Eakin and Alex Tuch) is going. We have chemistry, we like how we're helping out in our own end, and to help out offensively feels good too."

Derek Stepan scored two goals, and Darcy Kuemper made 22 saves for the Coyotes (9-9-2), who have lost two in a row and are 2-4-2 since winning five straight.
Marc-Andre Fleury made 19 saves for Vegas, which has won five of six games against Arizona, including three in overtime, since entering the NHL last season.
"When you go on the road, it's tough to win," Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant said of coming off a 7-2 loss to the Calgary Flames on Monday. "I'm real happy for the group. I thought we played the right way for 60 minutes. We didn't let down for three minutes or five minutes anywhere."

Stepan tied it 2-2 at 13:11 of the third period when he scored on the power play off a pass from Alex Galchenyuk to the left post. Gallant challenged for goaltender interference by Coyotes forward Richard Panik, but the goal was upheld by video review.
"Honestly, the biggest thing was we scored (on the power play). It doesn't matter how it gets done, we scored a big goal to give our team a chance to win the game," Stepan said. "We've had a lot of discussions about the power play lately and now we can go forward with that."
Arizona is tied for 26th in the NHL on the power play (15.6 percent) and was 2-for-21 in its previous five games.

The Golden Knights killed a Coyotes power play after Brayden McNabb was called for tripping Christian Fischer with 1:05 left in the third period.
"I think that's us being resilient. Any time something like that (Stepan's goal) happens, you can't get too down on yourself," Theodore said. "There's still lots of game left, and we got right back on the forecheck, and that's exactly what we needed."
Eakin beat Kuemper from between the hash marks at 4:18 of the third, but the goal was overturned by video review after Arizona coach Rick Tocchet challenged and the Situation Room ruled Tuch was offside at 4:15.
Pacioretty put Vegas ahead 2-1 at 15:51 of the second period when he skated to the net and redirected a pass from Eakin inside the near post. Pacioretty carried the puck into the offensive zone and dropped it off for Tuch, who passed ahead to Eakin.

Tomas Nosek tied it 1-1 with a wrist shot that went over Kuemper's glove at 5:50 of the second.
Stepan redirected defenseman Jakob Chychrun's pass from the blue line past Fleury with 52 seconds left in the first to give the Coyotes a 1-0 lead.
It was the first point of the season for Chychrun, who had missed all but one game this season with multiple injuries.
Kuemper is 2-4-2 in eight consecutive starts with No. 1 goalie Antti Raanta injured.
"I'm frustrated we lost," he said. "I liked our effort. That's a hardworking team across the hall from us. I thought our effort matched them all night, if not better."
