"Personally, it was ugly right from the start for me," said McDavid, who also had an assist. "I fought the puck all night, changed sticks a couple of times. Dropped my stick, lost my mouthguard a bunch of times. I had to stick with it and find a way to contribute to the game."
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had three assists, and Leon Draisaitl, Warren Foegele and Zach Hyman also scored for Edmonton (10-8-0). Stuart Skinner made 31 saves.
"It's fun to play good teams," Nugent-Hopkins said. "It definitely is. You've got to rise to the occasion, and this has been one of the hottest teams in the League so far. So we knew that coming in and obviously we needed to step our game up. To get the two points against that team is definitely big, and we've got to keep that feeling going on the road here."
