Golden Knights score six against Canadiens, win seventh straight

MONTREAL -- The Vegas Golden Knights extended their winning streak to seven games with a 6-4 victory against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Saturday.

Reilly Smith scored two goals, Nicolas Hague, Jonathan Marchessault and Keegan Kolesar each had a goal and an assist for the Golden Knights (11-2-0).
"I think every game there's different guys that show up, and I think it was the same tonight," said Golden Knights forward Nicolas Roy, who also scored a goal. "That's what good teams do."
Adin Hill made 27 saves to improve to 5-0-0 with Vegas.
"We're having a lot of fun right now, winning definitely adds to that," Smith said. "We're trying to keep the ball rolling and keep the positivity going, but it's nice to be able to play when you're winning, and you just try to keep those streaks going."

Nick Suzuki scored twice, Cole Caufield had a goal and an assist, and Kirby Dach had three assists for Montreal (5-6-1), which is 0-2-1 in its past three games. Jake Allen made 36 saves.
"Other guys have been getting chances, it just hasn't been going in for them," said Suzuki, who has scored in four straight games. "We're the first line for a reason. We need to go out there and produce. And if we're not doing that, we're not doing our job to help the team win. So we've been playing pretty good hockey, we just need to find a win."

Suzuki scored 56 seconds into the third period off a pass from Dach on a 3-on-1 to tie it at 2-2.
Smith put Vegas ahead 3-2 at 4:45 with his second goal of the game on a power play.
Kolesar made it 4-2 at 8:14 when Hague's shot from the left point deflected off him past Allen. Roy then scored 21 seconds later to extend the lead to 5-2.
"I think we're a veteran group," Marchessault said. "It doesn't matter whoever scores or gets the lead or not, I think as a group we know that the game is never over until it's over, and we're always going to bounce back."
Suzuki cut it to 5-3 with a power-play goal at 10:21.

Marchessault made it 6-3 at 13:19 with Vegas' second power-play goal before Juraj Slafkovsky scored at 15:21 for the 6-4 final.
"We weren't able to kill that penalty that gave them the lead and the game just started kind of slipping away from us," Canadiens coach Martin St. Louis said. "But I thought we fought and got a chance at the end to pull the goalie and see what could happen, but we just fell short."
Hague gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead at 13:25 of the first, scoring on a slap shot from the point after Canadiens defenseman Joel Edmundson's pass went to him off Suzuki's stick.
Caufield tied it 1-1 with his eighth goal at 14:16.
Smith put Vegas ahead 2-1 at 2:24 of the second when he tapped in a backhand pass from William Karlsson on a 2-on-1.
"We just kind of dug ourselves too big of a hole and we need to clean that up," Suzuki said. "It's a good team over there and we gave them a good game, so we can still improve."
NOTES: Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel extended his point streak to five games (two goals, five assists) with an assist on Marchessault's goal. … Canadiens forwards Josh Anderson and Joel Armia each played in his 400th NHL game.
