NASHVILLE --Malcolm Subban made 41 saves and did not allow a goal in a six-round shootout, helping the Vegas Golden Knights defeat the Nashville Predators 4-3 at Bridgestone Arena on Friday.
It was the first NHL game between Subban and his older brother, Nashville defenseman P.K. Subban, who did not have a point and had one shot. "It's pretty cool," Malcolm said. "Obviously it's a great experience, like I said, being out there with my dad and my brother. I wish (younger brother and Los Angeles Kings defenseman prospect Jordan Subban) could be here too because it would be like old times where we were skating on outdoor rinks and stuff. It just brought back old memories."
Haula scored on a one-timer from the right face-off circle for his 10th goal. Nick Bonino gave the Predators a 3-2 lead at 14:56 of the third period with his sixth goal on a wrist shot from the slot after Viktor Arvidsson forced a turnover. Arvidsson tied the game 2-2 at 8:04 of the third. He scored from mid-air on a rebound of Kevin Fiala's shot for his 10th goal. "We just kept going," Arvidsson said. "I feel like we've scored a lot of goals this season, and I feel like people have confidence in the team." William Karlsson gave the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead at 6:55 of the first period on the power play. Alex Tuch got around the Predators defense and centered the puck to Karlsson, who beat Pekka Rinne for his 15th goal.
Neal gave Vegas a 2-0 lead at 14:37 of the second period on a wrist shot from the right face-off circle. A shot by Luca Sbisa was deflected to Neal, who scored his 14th goal. "We're a quick team, and I like the way we played," said Neal, who spent three seasons with the Predators and reached the Stanley Cup Final with them last season. "It was going to be a great test for us. I thought we played great. It's a tough building to play in, so we played well." Calle Jarnkrok made it 2-1 at 15:40 of the second with his sixth goal, on a pass in front of the net from Pontus Aberg. By earning a point, Nashville tied the St. Louis Blues for first place in the Central Division.
