"We just felt adding someone who could play on our bottom two lines, adding another element, someone who plays on the best penalty killing unit in the League, someone who has a lot of experience who's seen it all, who brings versatility, size, lots of speed, was something that was very attractive in this player," Ottawa general manager Pierre Dorion said.
Stalberg, selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the sixth round (No. 161) of the 2006 NHL Draft, has 164 points (80 goals, 84 assists) in 470 NHL regular-season games with the Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, New York Rangers and Hurricanes. He has two goals and seven assists in 43 Stanley Cup Playoff games and was a member of the 2013 Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks.
