The Toronto Maple Leafs have one of the most famous voices on the planet cheering them on in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

No, it's not Justin Bieber although, [yes, him too]. It's Kat Callaghan.

If you are not familiar with that name, please believe it when we say that you have almost assuredly heard her voice.

Callaghan is the voice over artist behind the most popular text-to-speech function on TikTok, the video-based social media platform that has been downloaded more than 3 billion times worldwide.

A veteran of radio and commercial work, Callaghan, a lifelong Maple Leafs fan, finally confirmed she was the voice of TikTok in the fall, although colleagues and listeners of her radio show had long suspected it.

"I figured I would just do a TikTok to let people who had been asking me know that, yes, that was my voice," Callaghan told NHL.com. "I didn't have a TikTok account at the time. It was the very first TikTok I did."

The clip quickly went viral and the end result has left her with

on the app, which actually isn't that far behind Bieber.

"I did know ahead of time that once you open that can, you can't close it," Callaghan joked.

Callaghan said she was surprised how many people thought the voice was computer generated.

"The voice of Siri and I talk," said Callaghan, referring to another wildly popular video

, the original voice of Apple's voice assistant. "Whether it is search or navigation, there are so many things that have voices that assist us, I just assumed everyone knew there were actually people behind these voices."

Callaghan's every day voice is of course distinguishable from the famous TikTok voice over, which she described in one of her many humorous videos as "sounding happy all the time." But when the Maple Leafs finally broke through with a win against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference First Round [their first playoff series win since 2004] the happy voice was out in full force.

"That was so huge for us," said Callaghan, who said she grew up just west of Toronto and remembers watching teams led by Hockey Hall of Fame forward Doug Gilmour with her father. "We've suffered so much as Maple Leafs fans. And I know it's not like winning the Stanley Cup, but just getting that monkey off our backs was like a mini-Stanley Cup."

Callaghan said her husband, Jamie, is also an "obsessed" Maple Leafs fan and the couple is bringing their two daughters along for the ride, though at ages four and five they are still a little young to understand the significance of the 2023 first-round victory.

And, as only a true Maple Leafs fan would be, Callaghan was perfectly fine with the Boston Bruins losing in the first round, though the Florida Panthers have done her team no favors taking a 2-0 series lead heading into Game 3 on Sunday.

Nevertheless, her spirits are not dampened.

"It's never over until it's over, right?" Callaghan said. "But that's us. Leafs fans always think it's the year."
