Connolly-Cup

Brett Connolly received a hero's welcome when he brought the Stanley Cup to his hometown Monday.

The Washington Capitals forward spent his day with the trophy in Prince George, British Columbia, where thousands attended a public gathering to celebrate Connolly and the Capitals' first championship.

Connolly began by sharing the trophy at a retirement home in Prince George, then took the Cup to CN Centre, the home of Prince George of the Western Hockey League, where Connolly played four seasons from 2007-11.

Fans posed for pictures with Connolly and the Cup at the public event.

Connolly, 26, had nine points (six goals, three assists) in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games this season, his second with Washington.
