Forward Tom Wilson signed a two-year, $4 million contract with the Washington Capitals on Thursday.
Wilson, 22, could have been a restricted free agent Friday.

In 82 games this season, Wilson had seven goals, 23 points and 163 penalty minutes. He had one assist in 12 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
A first-round pick (No. 16) of the Capitals at the 2012 NHL Draft, Wilson has 14 goals and 50 points in 231 regular-season games in three seasons.
The Capitals also signed forward Zach Sill to a two-year, two-way contract Thursday. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Sill, 28, could have been an unrestricted free agent Friday. He had one goal in 10 games with Capitals, and 22 points in 63 games with Hershey, their American Hockey League affiliate.
