'Quest for the Stanley Cup' reaches dramatic conclusion in final episode

The Washington Captials exhibited a range of emotions when they closed out 2018 as Stanley Cup champions. In the end, it was all about having fun, from staying loose going into what turned into the final game of the season, to the non-stop party that followed.

In the interest of fun, the Capitals did some horsing around in the dressing room prior to Game 5 and Alex Ovechkin got playful with someone he knows very well, Vegas Golden Knights goalie Marc-Andre Fleury in the warmups. After all, Washington coach Barry Trotz said that if you're in the Stanley Cup Final, you might as well have fun.

Once they fought to one last win, the Capitals let it all out, and the final episode of "Quest for the Stanley Cup" shows just how much raw emotion spilled out of each member of the team, from players to coaches to ownership to fans.

The behind-the-scenes documentary series airs exclusively on ESPN+ in the United States and on YouTube.com/NHL in Canada. One of the memorable moments after
the Capitals won the Stanley Cup
was Washington forward T.J. Oshie talking about giving his father, who'd been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, something he'd never forget. The moment went beyond the on-ice interview, however, and cameras picked up the whole scene of Oshie's tearful celebration with his parents.

Ovechkin was the man of the hour, and all hours that followed, as he finally got to hoist the Stanley Cup in his 13th season in the NHL. For all that waiting, there was going to be a lot of screaming and smiling. Cameras followed him as he pumped up the team during the game, celebrated with them as they won, and led the festivities after.
