Grubauer, 25, a restricted free agent, was 13-6-2 with a 2.04 goals-against average, a .926 save percentage and three shutouts as Braden Holtby's backup with the Capitals last season. He had NHL career bests in games played (24), starts (19), wins, GAA, save percentage and shutouts.
Selected by Washington in the fourth round (No. 112) of the 2010 NHL Draft, Grubauer is 28-21-8 with a 2.25 GAA, a .923 save percentage and three shutouts in 66 regular-season NHL games (51 starts) and is 1-0 in two Stanley Cup Playoff games.
