INJURIES

Roberto Luongo, FLA -- With the 39-year-old expected to miss 2-4 weeks because of a knee injury, Florida Panthers backup James Reimer should see the bulk of the starts. Reimer was shaky against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday, allowing five goals on 32 shots faced, but likely will start against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday and Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday. If he falters, Michael Hutchinson could get some playing time.
Jonathan Quick, LAK -- The Los Angeles Kings placed Quick on injured reserve this week, and he is considered week to week. Backup Jack Campbell has played very well in his absence, winning two of three games, including one shutout, allowing four goals on 117 shots faced. Campbell looks to have the job locked in until Quick returns, and Los Angeles has a stingy defense, allowing a total of seven goals in four games.
Cory Schneider, NJD -- The New Jersey Devils started Keith Kinkaid in each of their first two games with Schneider recovering from a hip injury. Kinkaid is 2-0-0, stopping 38 of 40 shots faced, including a shutout win against the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals on Thursday. With the Devils having outscored opponents 10-2 and their next three games at home, now is a good time to ride Kinkaid in fantasy.

TRENDING UP

John Gibson, ANA -- The Anaheim Ducks have started the season 3-0-1, and Gibson has been in net for every minute. He's allowed six goals on 134 shots faced, making at least 30 saves in three games with one shutout. Gibson had 31 wins, a 2.43 GAA, .926 SV% and four shutouts last season and could feasibly top those numbers this season. Backup Ryan Miller, 38, performed well last year, but Anaheim is hoping Gibson can stay healthy and take a further step forward.
Jaroslav Halak, BOS -- The Boston Bruins have three wins in four games this season, and Halak is responsible for two of them. Signed this offseason to back up Tuukka Rask, he's made the most of his chances, allowing one goal in two starts. Halak (21 percent owned in Yahoo) could see more playing time, especially in upcoming back-to-back situations. However, it's worth noting Rask had a horrible start last season before rebounding to be a top five fantasy goalie at year's end.
Casey DeSmith, PIT -- Pittsburgh Penguins starter Matt Murray was diagnosed with a concussion and, although he may be back sooner than later, the 24-year-old's injury history is concerning. DeSmith made 35 saves in a 4-2 win against the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday in his first start of the season, which should give the coaching staff confidence to play him even if/when Murray is healthy.

TRENDING DOWN

Philipp Grubauer, COL -- Grubauer lost his only start with the Colorado Avalanche, allowing four goals on 34 shots faced, and likely will see his playing time reduced by Semyon Varlamov's hot start. Varlamov, a potential 2019 unrestricted free agent, is 3-0-0 with a 1.33 GAA and .955 SV%, making Grubauer only useful on back-to-back sets or if Varlamov deals with injury.
Frederik Andersen, TOR -- He may have won three of his four starts, but wins aren't everything. Andersen has allowed at least three goals and has a SV% under .900 in three of them. The Toronto Maple Leafs are averaging five goals per game, meaning Andersen doesn't have to be as sharp in order to get wins. But if this trend keeps up, you may need to look elsewhere for help in peripheral categories.
