TRENDING UP

Connor Hellebuyck, WPG (51 percent owned): Still available in nearly half of leagues, Hellebuyck should be one of your top targets. Hellebuyck has started three of the past four games for the Winnipeg Jets, winning all three and allowing five goals. His save percentage has been .938 or above in each game, and he's already been named the starter against the Minnesota Wild on Friday. Steve Mason (18 percent owned) has allowed at least five goals in each of his three starts and has done nothing to help his case for more playing time. Hellebuyck should get the bulk of the starts in Winnipeg moving forward.
Malcolm Subban, VGK (30 percent owned): With Marc-Andre Fleury out because of a concussion, Subban, 23, has been thrust into the starting spot for the Vegas Golden Knights. Fleury's history of concussions makes this situation even more uncertain, meaning Subban could be starting for the foreseeable future. In his first start, Subban was 30 seconds away from a shutout and finished with 21 saves for his first NHL win, 3-1 against the Boston Bruins on Sunday. He followed that up with 30 saves in a 5-4 overtime win against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. Vegas is playing well and has its next three games at home, so Subban could be a good option if Hellebuyck isn't available.

Andrei Vasilevskiy, TBL: The Tampa Bay Lightning won four straight games from Oct. 7-14, each of which was started by Vasilevskiy. In wins against the St. Louis Blues and Detroit Red Wings, he made a combined 57 saves on 60 shots. He's also proven he can win close games; each of those four victories was by one goal. Backup Peter Budaj (9 percent owned) looked shaky in a 5-4 shootout loss to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, and Vasilevskiy has a stranglehold on the No. 1 job.

TRENDING DOWN

Cam Talbot, EDM: Talbot has started four games for the Edmonton Oilers and allowed at least three goals in each of the past three. He was pulled after allowing four goals on 23 shots in a 6-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday; one week earlier, he was pulled after allowing three goals on seven shots in a 3-2 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 7. He is 1-3-0 with a 3.96 goals-against average and .880 SV%, although his one win was a shutout. Talbot hasn't played well but neither have the Oilers, who have scored 11 goals in five games. Talbot allowed 13 goals in his first three starts last season and recovered; however, it wouldn't be surprising if he sees significantly less than the League-leading 73 starts he made last season, and the 2.39 GAA and .919 SV% could be hard numbers to duplicate.
Roberto Luongo (48 percent owned) and James Reimer (16 percent owned), FLA: The Florida Panthers are 2-3-0 this season, allowing an average of 4.0 goals per game. Luongo allowed four goals in a 5-1 loss at the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, the second time in three starts he's allowed at least four goals. Luongo has a 3.41 GAA and .901 SV% this season. Reimer has also struggled, allowing four goals in each of his two starts (4.07 GAA, .873 SV%). The schedule doesn't get any easier with road games against the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals on Friday and Saturday. Between Luongo's health issues and age and Reimer's inconsistency, this is a situation to avoid.
Jaroslav Halak, NYI (60 percent owned): Halak and Thomas Greiss (47 percent owned) have alternated starts in each of the past five games, and Greiss has had the better numbers. Halak has allowed three goals in each, not having a SV% higher than .900, and has lost two one-goal games. It was thought that Halak would be the starter entering the season; however, Greiss has allowed three goals on 76 shots in his past two starts, both wins, including 40 saves in a 3-1 win at the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 14. The Islanders have a tough upcoming schedule, with four of their next five games against the New York Rangers, Sharks, Minnesota Wild and Nashville Predators, so Halak might not be the best option right now.
