TRENDING UP

Curtis McElhinney, CAR -- The Carolina Hurricanes have had three inconsistent goalie options this season, but the situation has gained clarity after Scott Darling was placed on waivers Thursday. McElhinney (30 percent owned), who has started four of the past five games, has four straight wins, including 48 saves at the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday. McElhinney is one of the most-added players this week, and it's worth riding the hot hand considering Petr Mrazek hasn't played a game since Nov. 2.
Mikko Koskinen, EDM -- It's been Koskinen, not Cam Talbot, who has played more and been more efficient for the Edmonton Oilers this season. Koskinen has started five of the past seven games and has a 2.29 goals-against average, .923 save percentage and two shutouts in the span. Koskinen (37 percent owned) has allowed more than three goals once in 10 appearances this season and has played three games (2-0-1, .936 SV%, one shutout) to Talbot's one (0-1-0, .900) under new coach Ken Hitchcock.

TRENDING DOWN

Martin Jones, SJS -- He has been the backbone of the San Jose Sharks each of the past three seasons, making at least 60 starts, including 65 twice. But Jones likely won't hit that mark this season; his goals-against average (3.00) has risen in each of his seasons with San Jose, and that along with his .892 save percentage are each the worst of his career. Backup Aaron Dell has started four of the past six games with mixed results; he has two shutouts but has allowed at least five goals in the other two.
Connor Hellebuyck, WPG -- The second-place finisher for the Vezina Trophy last season as best goalie in the NHL has not had a great follow-up season. He's won nine games in 18 starts and has a 2.98 GAA (up from 2.36 last season) and .907 SV% (down from .924). Hellebuyck has no shutouts and hasn't been the game-changer he was last season but is worth buying low with continued goal support from the Jets offense (3.35 goals per game; ninth in NHL).
