Alex Goligoski has some hot new wheels thanks to the Minnesota Wild.
The veteran defenseman was gifted a Polaris ATV by the Wild during his 1,000th game ceremony on Saturday. Minnesota honored Goligoski for reaching the milestone before their game against the Carolina Hurricanes. Goligoski was joined by his wife, Amanda, and their two kids, Roman and Mila, for the pregame ceremony. Wild mascot Nordy rode the four-wheeler onto the Xcel Energy Center ice.
Wild general manager and former teammate Bill Guerin gifted Goligoski the commemorative silver stick for reaching the accomplishment during the ceremony.
Goligoski played his 1000th career NHL game on Oct. 20 against the Vancouver Canucks. His kids surprised him with special "1000" donuts and a homemade sign the morning of the game. Minnesota posted special video messages on their Twitter from coaches and teammates from the defenseman's 16 NHL seasons. "1,000 games is a lot of hockey and not easy to accomplish," former Penguins teammate Sidney Crosby said in the video. "So, happy to see you achieve this milestone and I hope you have a great night celebrating it."
The cutest video message was from Goligoski's two kids, of course. "Hi, Daddy. We love you," Roman and Mila said. "We are so proud of you for making it to 1,000 games. We love you very much. Good luck!"
