Ducks-win-WPG

ANAHEIM --Anaheim Ducks goaltender Ryan Miller entered the game late in the third period and didn't make a save, but he stopped four of five shots in the shootout in a 4-3 win against the Winnipeg Jets at Honda Center on Thursday.
Miller replaced John Gibson with 6:40 remaining in the third after Gibson sustained a lower-body injury when Winnipeg forward Blake Wheeler slid into him in the crease. Gibson made 24 saves.

"Last couple shootouts I've been in haven't gone our way," Miller said. "Stepping into a game, you want to come through."
Adam Henrique had a goal and an assist, and scored the only goal in the shootout for Anaheim (24-17-9). Nick Ritchie and Ryan Kesler scored for the Ducks.
Jack Roslovic scored his first NHL goal, and Patrik Laine and Brandon Tanev scored for Winnipeg (29-13-8), which had won three in a row. Connor Hellebuyck made 36 saves.
Roslovic tied the game 3-3 at 6:19 of the third period, but the Jets didn't have another shot on goal the rest of the period or overtime.
"It was good to get the first one and tie the game up there late," Roslovic said. "Would've liked to get the win, but it was good."

Laine fluttered a shot from the point, and Gibson made the save but couldn't secure the puck. Ryan Getzlaf backhanded it out of the crease, but it went directly to Roslovic, who scored on a one-timer from the right face-off circle.
"We didn't have a whole lot going after that," Winnipeg coach Paul Maurice said.
The Ducks outshot the Jets 6-0 in overtime. Miller made saves on Bryan Little, Wheeler, Matt Hendricks and Mathieu Perreault during the shootout, and Laine hit the post. Miller moved ahead of Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers for the most shootout victories in NHL history (59).
"It's a tough situation to put a goalie in cold and then he doesn't see a shot until the shootout," Carlyle said. "He's a veteran guy and I don't think much fazes him."
Kesler gave the Ducks a 3-2 lead at 5:48 of the third when he spun and shot from the sidewall and beat Hellebuyck short side over his left shoulder.
The Jets also tied the score shortly after the Ducks went ahead in the second period.

Ritchie scored his first goal in 24 games when Henrique's shot from the right circle deflected off his skate and crossed the goal line at 1:24 for a 2-1 lead.
Ritchie had the puck taken from him on his next shift at the Anaheim blue line by defenseman Jacob Trouba, leading to a 2-on-0. Trouba brought the puck in close to Gibson before passing to Tanev on his left, and he scored into the left side to tie it 2-2 at 3:35.
The Jets scored on their first shot of the game.
Anaheim defenseman Kevin Bieksa took the puck behind his net but was pressured by Roslovic, forcing him to make a short pass to Getzlaf, also behind the net. Laine skated in just as Getzlaf received the puck and forced a giveaway. Laine skated in front of Gibson and scored between his pads for a 1-0 lead at 3:25.
Henrique tied it 1-1 at 6:48 after forcing a turnover by Laine in the Winnipeg zone and scoring on a wrist shot from the right circle to extend his point streak to five games (four goals, two assists).
