Pastrnak, DeBrusk score in Bruins' victory over Jets

BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins extended their season-opening home point streak to 20 games when they rallied for a 3-2 win against the Winnipeg Jets at TD Garden on Thursday.

The Bruins became the 10th team in NHL history to get at least a point in each of its first 20 home games in a season (18-0-2).
"When you have this record, when you have a season like we're having, you become the hunted a little bit," Boston forward Nick Foligno said. "Every team gets up to play you, but our mindset needs to still shift to attacking, and being on the offense and being on our toes. When we do that, we're a real dangerous team."
Foligno scored the winning goal for the Bruins (26-4-2) and had an assist. David Pastrnak also had a goal and an assist, and Jeremy Swayman made 25 saves. Jake DeBrusk scored the tying goal for his 200th NHL point.
"We were relieved because the crowd got into it, and I think we started to play a lot better," Boston coach Jim Montgomery said. "I thought [Winnipeg] did the best job that we have faced as far as a forecheck and being over top of us. Really good sticks that unfortunately we didn't manage the puck well against, but I give credit to them for how determined they were at checking us."
Connor Hellebuyck made 36 saves for the Jets (21-11-1). Josh Morrissey extended his assist streak to 11 games.
"[Hellebuyck's] been the backbone of this team all year," Winnipeg forward Mark Scheifele said. "He's made some amazing saves, and he was again solid tonight. Would have been nice to capitalize on a few more of those [chances] and get a few more shifts in the [offensive] zone."

WPG@BOS: Foligno rips the puck from the slot to score

Foligno gave Boston a 3-2 lead with a wrister from the slot at 11:08 of the third period.
"There's such a quiet confidence in this room, so I don't think we ever get too flustered by anything," Foligno said. "I think it's always to how we're playing, so it's never 'what are teams doing?' It's usually what we're not doing."
Pastrnak cut it to 2-1 at 12:08 of the second period, firing into an open net after the puck took awkward bounces off the end boards and the post before Hellebuyck could get back in position.
"All I could think of [was] just to hit the net," Pastrnak said. "I knew [Hellebuyck] was gonna make an effort to come back, so I was just hoping I wouldn't hit him."
DeBrusk tied it 2-2 on the power play at 15:00, deflecting a shot up from Pastrnak at the net front.
"We knew it was going to be a measuring stick of two really good teams," Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon said. "Obviously got the start we wanted. A little penalty trouble there in the second and they got some momentum, and then obviously a breakdown on their game-winning goal."

WPG@BOS: DeBrusk scores PPG in 2nd period

Scheifele gave the Jets a 1-0 lead with his 20th goal of the season at 1:58 of the first period. A loose puck fell to Cole Perfetti in the left face-off circle, and he backhanded it to Scheifele waiting alone at the doorstep.
Jansen Harkins made it 2-0 at 7:20, tipping Morrissey's slap shot from the point between Swayman's pads.
"They battled hard, so that's all you can ask," Winnipeg coach Rick Bowness said. "So, you'd like to see a few more shots on net, yeah. A little more pressure on their [end], yeah, but the guys did work hard, and again, [Boston's] the top team in the League, so we were right there with them."
NOTES: Morrissey's 11-game point streak (14 points; one goal, 13 assists) is tied with four others for second-longest in Jets/Atlanta Thrashers history; the longest is held by Patrik Laine (15 games in 2017-18). Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar had an assist in 13 straight last season. … It is Scheifele's eighth season with 20 goals, which ties him with Ilya Kovalchuk for most in Jets/Thrashers history.
