Jason Zucker and Jared Spurgeon scored in the third period to help the Minnesota Wild defeat the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 at Xcel Energy Center.
Zucker tied it 3-3 with a power-play goal at 6:42 before Spurgeon gave the Wild a 4-3 lead at 15:11. Eric Staal scored his first goal of the preseason to give Minnesota a 1-0 lead 4:36 into the first period. Nelson Nogier tied it 1-1 at 17:07. Kristian Vesalainen, selected with the No. 24 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, gave the Jets a 2-1 lead on the power play at 8:49 of the second period. Greg Pateryn tied it 2-2 at 14:09, but Dustin Byfuglien gave Winnipeg a 3-2 lead at 19:49. Mikael Granlund had two assists, and Devan Dubnyk made 27 saves for Minnesota. Laurent Brossoit made 24 saves for Winnipeg. Wild defenseman Ryan Suter was minus-1 in 21:22 in his preseason debut. He had not played a game since fracturing his right ankle March 31 against the Dallas Stars.
