Predators win Game 2 against Jets in 2OT

NASHVILLE -- Kevin Fiala scored 5:37 into the second overtime to give the Nashville Predators a 5-4 win against the Winnipeg Jets in Game 2 of the Western Conference Second Round at Bridgestone Arena on Sunday.
The best-of-7 series is tied 1-1. Game 3 is at Winnipeg on Tuesday.

Fiala took a pass from Craig Smith and beat Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck on the backhand.
"I'm very happy that we won," Fiala said. "That's all that matters. It was a huge game for us to tie it up 1-1. It's very big for us."

Mark Scheifele scored twice for the Jets, including the game-tying goal to make it 4-4 with 1:05 remaining in the third period on a one-timer from the left faceoff circle. It was his second of the game and League-leading eighth of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
"Playoff hockey is fun," Scheifele said. "It's exciting. You're going to win games, you're going to lose games, you're going to get down in games and you're going to be up in games. There's a lot of adversity that goes through a series and that's the reason they're best four out of seven. We leave this one behind us and focus on Tuesday."
Brandon Tanev scored for the Jets to tie the game 3-3 at 5:11 of the third period. He beat Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne on the stick side for his third goal.
Ryan Johansen, who scored twice, gave the Predators a 4-3 lead 34 seconds later at 5:45. He got around Jets defenseman Toby Enstrom and beat goaltender Connor Hellebuyck (36 saves) for his second of the game and fourth of the playoffs.
"You focus on the little things," Johansen said. "You don't worry about the points or anything like that. You focus on the details as an individual that makes you the best player possible for your team and where you can help guys around you in their game and stuff. For me, it's going out there and doing the little things all the time consistently well and putting myself in position to have success."
Viktor Arvidsson gave the Predators a 3-2 lead at 18:41 of the second period on a slapshot on the rush from the right circle. It was his third goal.
"I think we worked hard," Arvidsson said. "We just support each other and played in the [offensive] zone a lot. So I feel like that was a big part, and we got the pucks deep. Played a simple game and put pucks to the net, and that's when we're good.''
P.K. Subban scored to tie the game 2-2 on a power play at 5:04 of the second period, his first goal of the playoffs.
Johansen gave the Predators a 1-0 lead 27 seconds into the first period on a wrist shot from the slot after taking a pass from Filip Forsberg, who had three assists.
Dustin Byfuglien scored for the Jets to tie the game 1-1 at 12:47 of the first on a shot from the left faceoff circle.
Scheifele gave the Jets a 2-1 lead 29 seconds later at 13:16 on a shot from the slot.
Rinne, who allowed three goals on 16 shots and was pulled after the second period in Game 1, made 46 saves, including 14 after regulation.

Game 2 lasted 85:37, which was the longest game in Jets/Atlanta Thrashers history. … Fiala's goal was his second playoff overtime goal. The first came in a 3-2 win in Game 3 of the 2017 Western Conference First Round against the Chicago Blackhawks.
