Trenin awarded two-year, $3.4M contract with Predators from arbitrator

Yakov Trenin
was awarded a two-year, $3.4 million contract with the Nashville Predators by an independent arbitrator Friday. It has an average annual value of $1.7 million.

The 25-year-old forward had a salary arbitration hearing Tuesday. He was the first of 24 restricted free agents
who filed for arbitration
to have a hearing.
Trenin set NHL career highs in goals (17) assists (seven) and points (24) in 80 games for the Predators last season. He had three goals in four Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Selected by Nashville in the second round (No. 55) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Trenin has 41 points (24 goals, 17 assists) in 146 regular-season games and five goals in 10 playoff games.
Trenin was the first player to be awarded a contract after a salary arbitration hearing since Tyler Bertuzzi with the Detroit Red Wings on Oct. 27, 2020, following the 2020-21 season. Last offseason, 17 restricted free agents filed for arbitration and two had a team-elected hearing scheduled; each agreed to a contract before his hearing date.
