Detroit Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman had a little help announcing the No. 6 pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft on Friday.
Harold Washington Jr., a 10-year-old player from the team's Learn, Play, Score program, shared the podium with the Hockey Hall of Famer and Stanley Cup champion to help broadcast that Swedish defenseman Simon Edvinsson was the Red Wings selection. Washington Jr. was chosen as the Learn, Play, Score representative earlier this week. The Red Wings shared the announcement on social media.
