The New York Rangers held a special pregame ceremony to kick off their Hockey Fights Cancer night on Monday.
The Rangers invited Brody Kuenzler, a 12-year-old cancer patient, to perform the ceremonial puck drop before their game against the New Jersey Devils at Madison Square Garden.
Kuenzler was joined on the ice by his mother, Theresa, when he dropped the puck between Rangers captain Jacob Trouba and Devils captain Nico Hischier. After the ceremony, Kuenzler rung the cancer survivor's bell hanging from a Rangers stick at center ice. The crowd erupted as players tapped their sticks in recognition of his battle.
