EDMONTON, AB - The Oilers released the following medical update on Tuesday morning regarding the status of forward Colby Cave.
"Edmonton Oilers player Colby Cave has been placed in a medically-induced coma and admitted to the Critical Care Unit at Sunnybrook Hospital after suffering a brain bleed overnight. We ask that you keep Colby and his wife Emily in your thoughts and prayers during this time."
Emily Cave posted the following update on her Instagram account on Tuesday afternoon, saying her husband was undergoing surgery at the Toronto hospital.

The Oilers then released the following update after his surgery.
"Edmonton Oilers forward Colby Cave is now out of emergency surgery at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto where doctors removed a colloid cyst that was causing pressure on his brain. Colby remains in a medically-induced coma. His wife Emily and his family ask for your continued thoughts and prayers."
Cave scored one goal in 11 games with the Oilers this season, as well as 11 goals and 12 assists in 44 games with the AHL's Bakersfield Condors.
