EDMONTON, AB - It's always nice to hear from Cap'n 97.
Joined by his miniature bernedoodle Lenard, Oilers Captain Connor McDavid shared a message from his Instagram account on Tuesday, less than a week since the National Hockey League decided to pause the 2019-20 season.
"Hey guys, like a lot of you, I'm just stuck inside practicing my social distancing and trying to control this thing before it gets out of hand," McDavid, who posted 34 goals and 97 points in 64 games before the pause, said.
"I think it's important that we all do. What one person does affects the others and we all need to make sure that we're being safe and taking all the steps needed to stop the spread of this."

McDavid led the Oilers to a 37-25-9 record in the '19-20 campaign thus far, producing at a 1.52 points per game average.
The NHL announced on Monday that players can return to their homes outside of their team city, to the extent that flights are available. The League also said a self-quarantine period should continue within the player's home through and including Friday, March 27, unless a longer period may be required in accordance with local mandates related to travel.
"Practice social distancing, take care of yourselves and I'm looking forward to getting on the ice soon," said McDavid.
