EDMONTON, AB - It's like he never left.
Because Oilers defender Brandon Davidson has not looked out of place on the back end with the Oil.
Edmonton is 4-2-0 since he joined the squad and in their most recent victory - a 5-3 win over the San Jose Sharks on Monday - Davidson logged 19:47 of ice time, the most he's played all season.
"When I came in here Day 1, Peter (Chiarelli) gave me a phone call and told me exactly what he wanted from me," said Davidson. "The coaching staff was very clear about how they wanted me to play and I've executed that so far. The whole trust thing I'm growing with the coaching staff again and that's why the minutes have come up again."
"I'm going to keep doing my part and I feel like the bond with the coaching staff is growing every day."
Oilers Head Coach Todd McLellan noted the familiarity Davidson had with the organization as one facet of his success and highlighted the areas he's helped the club with.
"The trust is easier to regain when the player's been here in the past," said the Oilers coach. "We have a better ability to evaluate Brandon's play because he has a history with us. We know if he's closer to the top of his game or near the bottom. He's come in and solidified the back end. He's helped our penalty kill out, he's moved pucks out of our end, he's played a physical brand when he's needed to.
"We feel confident about putting him on the ice and he feels confident going out on the ice."
