EDMONTON, AB -Leon Draisaitl was absent from Wednesday's practice at the Rogers Place Community Rink, but it shouldn't be a long-term thing. Head Coach Todd McLellan said the Oilers forward got hit with either a puck or stick to the eye area and needed another day to recover.
"His eye was quite swollen today and it wasn't safe to put him on the ice," said McLellan. "If the swelling comes down tomorrow he should be back out. If there's any risk of any problems up and around that eyeball we won't skate him tomorrow but he should be ready to go on the weekend."
In addition to Draisaitl, Drake Caggiula was missing from the skate as well, still dealing with his undisclosed injury.
"Drake is still day-to-day," said McLellan. "Obviously, he didn't skate today. We'll see how he is tomorrow."
