BLOG: Edmonton votes for Connor McDavid-named snow plow

EDMONTON, AB -Edmonton knows two masters of ice -- Connor McDavid and the snow plow.
The two bladed wonders combined on Wednesday after the results from the city's
Name A Plow contest
were officially unveiled. Among names such as: Amarsleet Snowhi, Ctrl+Salt+Delete, Mr. Plow, and The Big Leplowski was an homage to the Oilers Captain and NHL's leading scorer. Introducing, what is hopefully Edmonton's fastest snow plow, Connor McBlade-It.
"Yeah, pretty funny," Connor McDavid said about the name. "That's Edmonton. They're hockey crazy and that's why it's fun to play here."
The contest received more than 2,100 entries from Edmontonians with 15 different names eventually being selected, including the one dedicated to Connor.
"We appreciate the incredible enthusiasm for this contest and are very excited to display the winning names on plows throughout the city," Mark Beare, the City of Edmonton's Director of Infrastructure Operations said in a release. "Thank you to everyone who submitted such creative and unique ideas."

"Wow. What do I think of the name? I think that's pretty creative, way beyond my level of creativity," Head Coach Jay Woodcroft said about the moniker.
Ryan McPlowed? Kailer Yama-No-Snow? Klean "Streets" Kostin? Dylan Haul-away? Leon DraiSidewalks? Philip Snowberg? Does the Oilers Captain think there any other teammates who are deserving of having a plow named after them?
"I think (Zach) Hyman would be someone that could maybe have one," McDavid said of the net crashing forward. "He's kind of like a snow plow out there, so that'd be good."
The Oilers head coach declined to name anyone on the roster who plays like a snow plow, but there is an individual on his staff who played 1103 NHL games and had a reputation for clearing the front of the crease by any means necessary, as evident by his 1322 career penalty minutes.
"I don't think it's fair for me to say what player, but I have a few ideas on a coach or two that might have played like a snow plow back in their time. How is that?" Woodcroft joked.
Who knows? Maybe next winter "Shave Manson" will make its debut on Edmonton's city streets.
