LOS ANGELES, CA - The Edmonton Oilers returned home on Friday ahead of Game 7 of their first-round series with the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Place on Saturday night after staving off elimination with a 4-2 victory in Game 6 on Thursday at Crypto.com Arena.
Prior to boarding a flight back to Oil Country late in the morning, goaltender Mike Smith and Head Coach Jay Woodcroft held hotel media availabilities and spoke about the club's defence stepping up in Darnell Nurse's absence, the play of their captain Connor McDavid, and their excitement of playing Game 7 at home for their city and fanbase in Oil Country.
The Oilers persevered to keep their hopes of a long playoff run alive on the back of Tyson Barrie's game-winning goal with 5:10 remaining and three-point nights from both Evander Kane and McDavid -- the latter of whom got the Oilers off to a perfect start and playing with purpose at both ends of the ice to help push Edmonton into an all-important Game 7 on Hockey Night in Canada.
