Oilers head coach Todd McLellan said that defencemen Adam Larsson and Kris Russell will not be in the lineup on Wednesday against the Cologne Sharks.
Larsson suffered a back injury on Saturday against the Flames and was taken out as a precautionary measure. He didn't practice with the team on Monday but he skated.
"Lars skated today then left as we had planned so he's doing better. We still won't run the risk of him playing Wednesday." McLellan said, adding he expected him in the lineup for the season opener Saturday in Sweden.
"There's a good chance Kris is going to be playing in Gothenburg when we get there. He just won't play on Wednesday."
Tryout blueliner Jason Garrison is expected to play Wednesday and that will be the last game he can play without a contract.
