Just look at his goal total this season and it's easy to say Pat Maroon has made a big impact on the Oilers. With 27 markers on the year, Maroon is tied with Leon Draisaitl for second on the team in scoring.
He potted two Thursday night in a big 3-2 win against San Jose.
"You don't see a lot of guys that are capable of bringing what he brings and especially as consistently as he does," said Oilers defenceman Darnell Nurse. "Every single night he finds a way to make an impact. He's been a huge reason why we're in this position we're in now."
Maroon provides a unique blend of size, strength, grit and scoring ability. He's done all of that, while putting together a career year and helping Edmonton break through their post-season drought.
"Any time you have a career year and double your goal total, it doesn't matter what type of player you are, it's dramatic," said Head Coach Todd McLellan. "I'm not talking about going from two (goals) to four. He's up in the high twenties now. He's had a tremendous season. He's always had his size. He hasn't shrunk or grown at all, but with his hands and his sense he fits that line well. His fearlessness to go to the paint and score in and around that area is what's getting it done for him."
