WINNIPEG, MB -The record-breaking duo does it again.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl broke the Edmonton Oilers all-time records for both power-play goals and power-play points in a season during Saturday night's contest against the Winnipeg Jets.
It was Draisaitl who was up first, scoring his 25th power-play goal of the year just 1:43 into the first period against the Jets to break his own franchise record set last season. Evan Bouchard launched a shot from the point on Connor Hellebuyck, which deflected off Zach Hyman and directly to Draisaitl, who cleaned up the rebound for the goal.
Draisaitl would notch his 26th PPG of the year later in the game for his first hat trick of the year and his 41st goal of the season. The German currently leads the NHL in PPGs with seven more than second place Mika Zibanejad.
McDavid set up Draisaitl's third goal of the game for his 70th assist and 122nd point of the season. More notably, the point was McDavid's 58th on the man advantage, breaking Wayne Gretzky's all-time Oilers record for most power-play points in a season, initially set by 'The Great One' back in the 1981-82 NHL season.
