EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers were on the ice at Rogers Place on Monday morning for a full practice ahead of traveling to St. Paul later in the afternoon to begin a two-game road trip on Tuesday night against the Minnesota Wild.
The Oilers have nine games remaining in their regular-season schedule to secure a playoff spot as they currently hold down second place in the Pacific Division with 90 points and a 42-25-6 record. Over their final nine contests, the Oilers will face opposition with a combined .542 win percentage (the fourth-highest of all remaining schedules), including six clubs currently holding onto or tied for playoff positions.
Edmonton has earned points in 14 of their last 16 games with a 12-2-2 record.
"I think what we're trying to do is continue to get better every day. We're trying to secure a playoff spot," Head Coach Jay Woodcroft said. "We want to use each day as an opportunity to refine different parts of our game, whether that's in the video room, on the ice in practice, or if we get the opportunity to play a game. It's to work on things that will set us up for success in the month of May. All that said, we're taking it very much one day at a time here."
