EDMONTON, AB - What bye week?
The Oilers returned back to game action Saturday following their five-day break, handing the Vancouver Canucks a 5-2 defeat.
In the process, the club extended their winning streak to three games and improved their Pacific Division record to 9-2-0.
Jujhar Khaira believes the squad did a good job of maintaining the momentum they created against the Arizona Coyotes and Vegas Golden Knights a week prior.
"I thought we played two good games and both games were very different," said the Oilers forward, who scored his eighth goal of the season against the Canucks. "I think in the first one (versus Arizona), we showed perseverance by coming back from an early 2-0 deficit. We played solid after that.
"The second game (Vegas), it was fast-paced and we took it to them."
Khaira continued to note the difference between coming off the bye-week break and Christmas break.
"After Christmas, it's one of those things where it's your first break," he said. "You're trying to do the right things, trying to win games but for us, it didn't happen right away.
"Coming out of this break, everybody was more focused and prepared. We knew what to expect. We need to get these wins right now, we don't have time to lollygag around."
