EDMONTON, AB - The Holloway family's jersey collection will be getting a makeover.
Oilers first-round, 14th-overall draft pick Dylan Holloway grew up in Bragg Creek, a hamlet just outside of Calgary, and naturally was raised as a fan of his hometown Flames.
That all changed on Tuesday, though, when Ken Holland called his name and Tyler Wright held up his freshly-crested orange and blue jersey.
"Growing up I did cheer for the Flames, but definitely not anymore," Holloway laughed. "And I know my family aren't Flames fans anymore."
Funnily enough, this isn't the first time the University of Wisconsin forward has been a member of the Oilers, as he spent two seasons with the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
Holloway was selected as the Canadian Junior A Hockey League player of the year in 2018-19 after finishing second in goals (40) and points (88) in the AJHL, despite being just 17 years old. Colorado Avalanche defenceman and 2019-20 Calder Trophy winner Cale Makar won the same award two years prior with the Brooks Bandits.
