The Oilers are embarking on another three-game road trip with another chance to get back on the winning track.
Heading into last week's trip to California, the team was red-hot with a 5-1-1 record in their last seven games. The Kings, Ducks and Sharks put a halt to that, though, each defeating the Oilers on home ice.
On Monday back at Rogers Place, the Oil dropped their fourth in a row with a high-scoring 7-5 decision against the Florida Panthers. They'll travel to Las Vegas, Arizona and Colorado on this road trip, looking to return to form.
"We've just got to keep going," Oilers captain Connor McDavid said following Wednesday's pre-flight practice. "We had a good meeting today. Just regroup is all you can do… We just have to keep doing everything right and grinding away."
"The most important thing for us to do is focus on details and create habits," added veteran forward Michael Cammalleri. "That says a lot about the individuals in the room and the team in general is if you're playing a way that creates proper habits and stick to those disciplines, that's what's going to help you as a player, as a teammate and as a team moving forward. That'll be the emphasis and the language that we talk about here."
The Oilers have enjoyed nearly unmatched success against their first opponent of the road trip, the Vegas Golden Knights. Edmonton is one of just three teams in the League to defeat the Knights twice this season, including a 3-2 OT decision heading into the bye week on Jan. 13.
"I'm not sure there's any rhyme or reason to it," McDavid said. "We've played them hard. Last time was a good game, back and forth, and we found a way to get a win. I'm sure they'll be itching to go just as much as we are. It's a big one for both teams."
The captain has scored twice with three assists in the two games vs. Vegas this season.
