The Oilers signed defenceman Kris Russell to a four-year contract on Friday.

"I just have a feeling - I think we all have a feeling - with some of these young kids and the bright futures they have," said Russell.
"The way the team is developing, obviously there's a lot of hard work that's got to go into it but we showed some good signs last year."
Part of the reason for the team's development is the pieces they have in the locker room. Staying together, Russell believes, could prove to be beneficial.
"We've got to keep improving, keep building," he said. "I think we have the guys in the dressing room to do that."
The blueliner registered one goal and 12 assists in 68 games over the 2016-17 season. He also led the League in blocked shots with 213.
