EDMONTON, AB - The day's business doesn't change whether you're up or down 3-0 in a series.
For the Edmonton Oilers, Sunday afternoon's practice was no different than it has been for the last 16 weeks since Head Coach Jay Woodcroft took over behind the bench.
"I would say that we're here to win a hockey game, and that message has been drilled into our team since Feb. 11," Woodcroft said. "We're here to win one hockey game and take care of that day's business, and when you do that, outcomes take care of themselves."
"It's the same message we've had every single day, which is to take care of today's business and make sure we're doing the necessary things so we can have some success tomorrow. That's been consistent from day one. We're business-like and we're here to take care of today's business and get ready for tomorrow."
The Oilers held a brief practice on Sunday afternoon, focusing on the next contest that will be an elimination scenario in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final after falling 4-2 on home ice in Game 3 on Saturday night. JT Compher scored the game-winning goal in the third period moments after exiting the box from a minor penalty and defenceman Evan Bouchard hitting the post at the other end in what was a strong game from Edmonton despite the loss after being shut out in Game 2 in Denver.
